Code of conduct
Last updated: May 2026
RouteMate exists because of mutual respect. These rules are inspired by mature cycle hospitality communities (including Warmshowers): keep the space welcoming, safe, and fit for people travelling by bike.
1. Respect and inclusion
Treat hosts, guests, and others with courtesy. Discrimination, harassment, threats, or hate speech (based on age, gender, orientation, origin, religion, disability, etc.) are not tolerated.
2. Communication
Use messages and reviews constructively. No gratuitous profanity, bullying, spam, or unsolicited sexual content. Coordinate arrivals and house rules clearly.
3. Honest reviews
Reviews must reflect a real stay. Negative feedback is allowed if factual. Personal attacks, vendettas, or fake reviews to harm someone are forbidden.
4. Others' privacy
Do not publish others' addresses, phone numbers, or photos without consent. Do not spread private information learned during a stay.
5. No abusive commercial use
RouteMate is not a marketplace. Do not use the platform for unsolicited ads, paid schemes disguised as hospitality, or illegal content.
6. Safety
Report dangerous behaviour or suspicious profiles. Hosts may refuse anyone; guests may cancel if uncomfortable. In emergencies contact local authorities.
7. Consequences
Violations may lead to content removal, suspension, or ban. For crimes we will cooperate with authorities within the law.
