Terms of service

Last updated: May 2026

By using RouteMate you accept these terms. Read them together with the privacy policy and code of conduct. Like established cycle hospitality communities (e.g. Warmshowers), we facilitate contact — we are not party to the relationship between host and guest.

1. Acceptance and eligibility

By registering you confirm you are at least 18 and legally able to accept this agreement. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Nature of the service

RouteMate connects cyclists offering or seeking free hospitality. We are not a travel agency, hotel, insurer, or employer of hosts. We do not guarantee availability, accommodation quality, or user behaviour.

3. Free hospitality and reciprocity

Hospitality on RouteMate is free — no mandatory payment between host and guest for lodging. We encourage reciprocity over time but do not charge registration fees like some legacy platforms.

4. User responsibility

Hosts and guests are solely responsible for their safety, agreements (times, house rules, bike access), compliance with local laws, and any damage. RouteMate does not attend in-person meetings.

5. Accounts and accuracy

Provide accurate profile information. You are responsible for your password and account activity. We may suspend or close accounts for fake profiles, abuse, or conduct violations.

6. Content and licence

By posting text or photos you grant RouteMate a non-exclusive licence to display them on the service. Do not upload illegal, offensive, or rights-infringing content. We may remove reported content.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, RouteMate is not liable for direct or indirect damages from use of the site or stays between users. The service is provided "as is" during development.

8. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms by publishing a new version. Continued use means acceptance. Italian law applies unless mandatory consumer rights in your country say otherwise.
